Grow Your Network and Make New Connections: A List of Lawyer Groups and Associations in Dallas to Join

Dallas is a city known for its businesses as well as true Southern culture. Named the #1 business-friendly city in America, it is clear why many companies have chosen Dallas to headquarter their offices and grow their business in our great city. Throughout the state, there are 105,000 lawyers registered with the State Bar of Texas and about 20,000 in Dallas alone.  Whether you are looking to expand your own business, learn the ins and outs of Dallas, or are in search of like-minded individuals, here are some recommendations of Lawyer Associations in Dallas to join!

Dallas Bar Association

Located in the heart of Downtown Dallas, the DBA is over 150 years old and has one of the largest membership bases of lawyers in Dallas. Throughout the year they host a variety of networking events, CLE sessions and also have committees open to all members that provide a platform to give back to the community. The DBA also has a Lawyer Referral Service Panel that helps anyone in the general public obtain quality legal work, which also allows your client base to grow.

Dallas Women Lawyers Association

The primary goal of the Dallas Women Lawyers Association is “ to elevate the standing of women in the legal profession”, and is a nonprofit that seeks to unite female lawyers across the metroplex. To join, simply fill out the application form with a $65 fee, you can also choose which, if any, of their committees you would like to join. A unique element of this organization is its Mentoring Circles Program, which provides group mentoring for participants at four events throughout the year. This mentorship program has gained national recognition and will be implemented across other states in the future.

The Dallas Association of Young Lawyers

DAYL is the perfect starting point for young lawyers who are looking to grow their network both personally and professionally here in Dallas. To be a full-time member you must be under the age of 36 or if you are older, you may join as an associate member. This organization provides a community for those who are just starting out, through trivia nights, sports leagues, happy hours, and leadership classes. The DAYL Foundation also provides scholarships to young law students and provides funding to local nonprofits for help in legal matters.

Dallas Trial Lawyers Association

Membership criteria for DTLA can be found here and all members can enjoy events specifically catered to your area of law, with expert speakers and resources easily accessible to all. One of the biggest perks of membership is access to thousands of depositions, briefs and motions, and settlements all on the DTLA database. Social events throughout the year include Trucks, Taps & Trial Lawyers, along with their annual derby event in the spring. With a more specific area of focus, the DTLA prides itself on instilling its core values in its members, such as collaboration, inclusion, professionalism, and compassion.
